* Dietary supplement for bone health.
* May be used adjunctively for dental health.
**Adult Dosing**
* Typically 500 mg to 1000 mg orally per day, often divided into two doses.
* Specific dosing varies by manufacturer and product formulation. Follow product labeling.
**Pediatric Dosing**
* Dosing for pediatric use is not established. Consult with a pediatrician or pediatric dentist before administering to children.

**Contraindications**
* Hypersensitivity to any component of the product.
* Hypercalcemia.
**Adverse Effects**
* Generally well-tolerated.
* Potential for gastrointestinal upset (constipation, nausea).
* Excessive calcium intake could theoretically contribute to hypercalcemia, particularly in susceptible individuals.
**Key Drug Interactions**
* **Tetracyclines and Fluoroquinolones:** Calcium-containing supplements can decrease the absorption of these antibiotics. Separate administration by at least 2 hours.
* **Bisphosphonates:** May reduce the absorption of bisphosphonates. Separate administration by at least 2 hours.
* **Thyroid Hormones:** May decrease absorption. Separate administration by at least 4 hours.
**Monitoring**
* Monitor for signs and symptoms of hypercalcemia (e.g., nausea, vomiting, constipation, confusion, kidney stones) if high doses are used or in individuals with risk factors.
**Clinical Pearls**
* TUSQ is a supplement, not a replacement for medical treatment of bone or dental conditions.
* Absorption may be enhanced with vitamin D, but excessive vitamin D can increase calcium absorption and risk of hypercalcemia.
* Ensure adequate hydration when taking calcium supplements.
