# TUSQ
## Overview
TUSQ is a brand name for guaifenesin. Guaifenesin is an expectorant that helps loosen chest congestion and thin mucus, making it easier to cough up.
## Primary Indications
* Symptomatic relief of cough associated with upper respiratory tract infections.
* Facilitation of mucus expectoration.
## Adult Dosing
* **Oral:**
* Immediate-release: 200-400 mg every 4 hours as needed. Maximum: 2400 mg/day.
* Extended-release: 600-1200 mg every 12 hours as needed. Maximum: 2400 mg/day.
## Pediatric Dosing
* **Oral:**
* **Age 2-5 years:** 50-100 mg every 4 hours as needed. Maximum: 600 mg/day.
* **Age 6-11 years:** 100-200 mg every 4 hours as needed. Maximum: 1200 mg/day.
* **Age 12 years and older:** Use adult dosing.
