## Primary Indications
* Inflammatory dermatoses unresponsive to less potent corticosteroids, such as psoriasis, severe eczema, lichen planus, and discoid lupus erythematosus.
## Adult Dosing
* Apply a thin layer to affected areas once or twice daily for a maximum of 2 weeks.
* Maximum weekly dose should not exceed 50 grams (or 50 mL for lotions).
## Pediatric Dosing
* Use is generally not recommended in children younger than 12 years due to increased risk of systemic absorption and adverse effects. If used, apply sparingly to small areas and for limited duration, under strict medical supervision.
## Dose Adjustments
* **Renal Impairment:** No specific dose adjustment; however, monitor for systemic effects if absorption is suspected.
* **Hepatic Impairment:** No specific dose adjustment; however, monitor for systemic effects if absorption is suspected.
* Consider reducing frequency or potency of the corticosteroid as the condition improves.
## Contraindications
* Untreated bacterial, viral, fungal, or parasitic infections of the skin.
* Rosacea, acne vulgaris, perioral dermatitis.
* Hypersensitivity to clobetasol propionate or any component of the formulation.
## Adverse Effects
* **Common:** Burning, itching, irritation, thinning of the skin (atrophy), striae, telangiectasias.
* **Less Common but Serious:** Cushing's syndrome, hyperglycemia, adrenal suppression, glaucoma, cataracts, increased risk of systemic infections.
## Key Drug Interactions
* No significant topical drug interactions have been widely reported. However, concurrent use of other corticosteroids or other medications that may cause systemic absorption should be done with caution.
## Monitoring
* Skin changes (atrophy, striae, telangiectasias).
* Signs of systemic absorption (e.g., Cushingoid features, adrenal suppression, hyperglycemia), especially with prolonged use, large surface area application, or use under occlusion.
