# Hyaluronic Acid
## Overview
Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a naturally occurring glycosaminoglycan with viscoelastic properties. It is available in various formulations for different therapeutic uses, primarily in ophthalmology and orthopedics.
## Primary Indications
* **Ophthalmology:**
* Viscosurgical device for cataract surgery and intraocular lens implantation to maintain anterior chamber space and protect intraocular tissues.
* Lubricant for dry eye disease.
* **Orthopedics:**
* Intra-articular injection for pain associated with osteoarthritis of the knee.
## Adult Dosing
* **Ophthalmology (Viscosurgical Device):** Typically administered by a surgeon during ophthalmic procedures. The volume and concentration depend on the specific product and surgical technique. Common concentrations range from 1% to 3%.
