# Hepamerz (l-Ornithine l-Aspartate)
## Overview
Hepamerz is a combination of two amino acids, l-ornithine and l-aspartate. It is thought to work by promoting the detoxification of ammonia in the liver and the reduction of nitrogen in the body.
## Primary Indications
* Treatment of latent and manifest hepatic encephalopathy (HE).
## Adult Dosing
* **Oral:** Typically 3 to 6 grams (e.g., 1 to 2 sachets) three times daily. The total daily dose should not exceed 18 grams.
