# Hepamerz (l-Ornithine l-Aspartate)
## Overview
Hepamerz is a combination of the amino acids l-ornithine and l-aspartate. It is believed to aid in the detoxification of ammonia in the liver and brain.
## Primary Indications
* Treatment of latent and manifest hepatic encephalopathy.
## Adult Dosing
* **Oral:** Typically 3-6 grams (or 3-6 sachets) per day, divided into 3 doses.
* **Intravenous:** 5 grams (1 ampoule) once or twice daily, administered as a slow infusion over 30-60 minutes.
## Pediatric Dosing
* Limited data available for pediatric use. Dosing should be individualized based on clinical assessment and under specialist guidance.
## Dose Adjustments
